After School Clubs at Marnie Simons Elementary

January 16^th we will start our after school programming.  NEW! Programs are now open to all 1^st graders! Programs are free of cost. The programs will run from 3:30-5:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, with a homemade after school snack. Students have a wide variety of clubs to choose from and encouraged to participate in something every day after school. Great attendance is important to support the 21st Century Grant program!

Marnie Simons Elementary provides academic enrichment and recreational opportunities in a safe, caring environment to all students 1st- 8th grade. The main goals of Marnie Simons After School Program is to provide a safe environment for the students through the following; By enriching and empowering our students, by building on their interests and strengths, by applauding their achievements, and by planning, coordination, implementing and evaluating the After School Program. The main objectives of the Marnie Simons After School Program; Our students will grow socially, emotionally, and physically in recreational activities with their peers, our students will grow academically through inquiry based activities focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

After school clubs will run from the week of January 16^th- April 10^th from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Please sign up the clubs you would like to join. Some clubs have a max amount and those are first come first serve. Regular, consistent attendance is of high importance. We keep a register for each of our clubs. No switching of clubs will be allowed. Please return to the school by MONDAY JAN 9^TH

Monday                                                                                                                                                                                       

4^th – 6^th    Code Academy Club -18 students; STEM education program that presents an innovative way to teach subjects like programming, math and science using Ozobot robots    

1^st- 6^th      Scrapbooking Club; will provided students with the opportunity to create a scrapbook to share with family and friends. Students will create a 12x12 book. *students will be expected to bring printed photos weekly to use in the book**                                               

1^st-6^th       Art Club; planning and development to implementation and creation of different art mediums. They will also explore art history.                                                                                             

Tuesday

1^st-6^th       Quilting Club- 10 students; Students will work in small groups to learn the art of quilting. Students will create a queen size quilt together to be auctioned off                       

1^st-6^th       Green Screen Film Club; Create student-driven, directed and edited videos using a green screen and green screen app. We will create weather reports, music videos, news reports, retelling stories/drama                                                                                                                        

1^st-6^th        Cooking/Baking Club; Learning how to prepare healthy meals is an important skill in life, and the earlier children start the better!                                                                                

Wednesday

1^ST-3^rd       Tinker Coding Club -18 students; STEM education program that presents an innovative way to teach subjects like programming, math and science using Ozobot robots  

1^st – 6^th      German Club- Experts agree that the critical window for language learning is from birth to approximately ten years of age. This golden opportunity for language learning should not be wasted! Learn how to speak German!                                                                                              

1^st- 6^th        YOGA - Children live in a crazy environment today, full of video games, sports, homework and the pressure to be perfect.  Yoga helps kids to detach from all these pressures and accept themselves for who they are.                                                                                                           

Thursday

1^st- 6^th       Gardening Club – work in the school garden and green house growing fruit, vegetables, and potted flowers.                                                                                                       

1^st-6^th        Animal Science Club- Get to know your school farm animals better! Learn how much and what to feed them, how to train them, show them, and how to enhance their environment               

The Opportunity Center will be open every day after school for students that need help with a class or get caught up with homework.  Students that are not passing a class will attend the Opportunity Center before clubs/sports.
