Working...
Students have worked hard to get the basis of Maker Movement. Science Center of Iowa sums the movement nicely by the following statement. "Making introduces people to the skills and problem-solving techniques they can apply in a modern workforce that's demanding more and more STEM professionals." Time has come to take Maker Movement to the next level. Students discussed the difference between real-world problems, real-community problems, and real-school problems. The real-school problem ideas focused around the farm. More specifically, students have identified animal hygiene, maintenance, feeding systems, and escaping animals. The idea of farm animals "misbehaving" also surfaced. In groups, students will be researching solutions, planning, sketching, modeling, and authentically performing their solution.
Fifth graders are still in the planning and research stage of the project. Check back for updates!
