5th graders traveled to Omaha on April 12th to authentically practice and gain confidence in their Spanish skills.
First stop was the International Bakery!
After enjoying bakery treats, students were given a grocery list in Spanish and asked to go on a hypothetical grocery run at Jacobo's. If there were troubles locating an item, students had to ask for help in Spanish and understand in the Spanish reply.
It was finally time for lunch at Taqueria Tijuana. Students read the menu in Spanish and even ordered in Spanish! Some were adventurous and tried face, stomach, cheek, and tongue meat.
The adventure ended with a visit to El Museo Latino, a Latino museum.
